August Foodie Pen Pal Reveal + Free Lunch

The Lean Green Bean

July was the first month that I participated in the Foodie Pen Pal program and it was such a wonderful experience that I felt compelled to do it again. I felt for sure that I wouldn’t get as lucky the 2nd time around…. you know, kind of like beginner’s luck. Let me tell ya, I must be on a lucky streak because this months pen pal was just as awesome!! When it comes to foodie pen pals, I have gotten the creme of the crop!!!

If you are unfamiliar with the Foodie Pen Pal program, let me tell ya more about…….. right after I share the box of goodies that I received this month!!

Katie over at Coffee Lovers Dilemma did a fantastic job picking out items that were perfectly matched to my tastes. Check out what I got!!!

The chocolate covered pomegranate and blueberries were OH.SO.GOOD!!! Sadly, they did not survive the Texas heat but that was no biggie. I popped the little packages in the fridge and went to town on them a couple hours later. Yeah…..these didn’t last in my house past a day. I want to ask where she bought them but I am afraid they might become a new addiction if I know where to get them.

My new love for steel cut oats….yep, I have Katie to thank for that, too!! I am so very happy that she sent me the package because otherwise, I probably never would have tried them and would have been missing out in a big way. You know what goes perfect in the steel cut oats? That’s right, PB2, baby :-)!!

Thanks again, Katie!!! I loved it all!

Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean hosts this every month and you can head on over to her site to register. It only takes a few minutes and you will be on your way to buying and receiving delicious treats for the month of September!! Now for some basic info taken directly from Lindsay’s page:

-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treatsThe spending limit is $15The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

Yesterday’s Sweaty Girl Workout was a good one if I do say so myself!! It definitely stood by it’s name and left me a sweaty girl ;-)! I ended up doing the circuit two times through which took about 15 minutes or so. Not only did I work up a sweat but I also worked up a big appetite!!

Since it was Thursday, I loaded up my little lunch date and headed to Honey Bee Ham for a free lunch. Well, free lunch for the kiddo, at least! On Thursday, kids eat free with an adult meal purchase and I am all about saving a little extra $moolah$!! Besides, they have the most delicious wrap and I have been craving it week long.

I could eat this every day for a week and not get tired of it!! That says a lot because I usually need some variety in my meals. This is seriously just SO good. Probably not so good for my waist line though. Darn it!!

After we were finished with lunch, we made Target our next stop. I had some coupons that were about to expire so I wanted to use them to get some great deals. Remember…. I love to save $$$!! Honestly, I am not much of a coupon-er because of the time commitment but I had received a bunch of coupons flyers in the mail from Target and since you can use their coupons along with the ones from manufacturers, you can save pretty big. My total before coupons was $59.00 and after it was only $37.00. I was one happy momma!!

Of course, we had to make a pit stop to the toy department while we were there. That is where I ran into the Incredible Hulk. Yikes….in the middle of Target. That is just, uh……incredible!!

I believe I may be in need of a facial.  My skin has been feeling a bit…..scaley!! Yes, I am just a big ol’ nerd 😉

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

And to finish up my day(night) I headed to the gym around 8pm for a little more cardio.

  • 20 minute intervals on the step mill
  • 10 minutes treadmill intervals

It sure felt good to get in two sweat sessions today!!

Do you use coupons? All the time or just when it is convenient?

Who was your favorite comic book superhero as a kid? Mine was always the Incredible Hulk!!

  1. creepy suzanne!!!! and that wrap looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G 🙂 any fruit covered in dark chocolate speaks to my heart in oh so many ways and if you do find those somewhere locally, let me know. as far as the steel cut oats – I feel ya on that one and I just got the quaker brand. I will tell you that you can find Red Mill at Albertsons since I bot a 7 Grain Hot Oat Cereal from there in the Red Mill brand.

Love the masks! That foodie pen pal box looks awesome – i might have to think about signing up!
I use coupons when I remember. I used to use them all the time and got a lot of awesome deals. My sister in law and I even went to a couponing class, but it gets to be time consuming! Now I just clip ones that i know I’ll use.

  3. I LOVE FPP! I have had awesome “pen pals” as well:) I stopped this summer because we were out of town so much, but I am signed back up for September and I can’t wait:) I do love coupons (I also got the target ones last week;)) but I am no professional when it comes to getting these huge deals.

  4. I saw those chocolate covered berries and wanted to get them but wasn’t sure if they would be any good. Glad to know they are worth it 🙂

  5. I’m soo happy you liked your package!! I got the chocolate covered pomengrantes and blueberries from costco. They’re great because they’re already pre-portioned 100 calorie snacks, perfect!!!

  6. PB2 is so useful for recipes! It cannot however replace real nut butter though 😦

  7. Shaggygirl

What’s in the wrap? I looks yummy.
